BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police say six people have been shot in the same area over a 12-hour period.

Authorities say shots rang out near Reservoir and Trumbull avenues at around 3:30 a.m., and that the victim was later hospitalized. Police are unsure whether the incident is related to a Tuesday shooting that left one man dead and four injured, but are launching a full-scale investigation.

Chris Pettway, 26, was the lone fatality Tuesday, prompting family members and local officials to demand stronger gun control.

Police say the other victims in Tuesday's shooting are Aijaholn Tisdale, 19, Tamir Hamilton, 19, Juwan Edwards, 15, and LeRoy Shaw, 15. All of their injuries were not life-threatening.

No arrests have been made.
