BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police say an illegal nightclub is now out of business following a seven-month investigation.

Police say they raided a building at 76 Knowlton St. early Sunday morning and confiscated liquor, cash, DJ equipment and an unregistered handgun.

Officials say they've received 15 complaints since January about suspicious activity there, including the illegal sale of alcohol.

Police say six people were arrested, including 37-year-old Jayvell Washington, who's facing drug and other charges.

Police Chief AJ Perez says illegal nightclubs attract criminal activity and he wanted to shut this one down before somebody got seriously hurt or killed.
