BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police say they have arrested a teenager in connection to the shootings of five people last week.

Authorities say Roderick Rodgers, 18, was arrested at around noon Monday. He is being detained on murder and attempted murder charges in connection to a shooting last week near Reservoir and Trumbull avenues that left one dead and four injured.

Detectives say a group of people was walking across Trumbull Avenue when Rodgers confronted them. Christopher Pettway, 26, was fatally wounded. The other victims, ages 15 to 19, did not suffer life-threatening injuries and three of four have been released from the hospital.

Police say the incident stemmed from a shooting earlier in the summer.

Rodgers is currently being held on $750,000 bond.

He will appear in court on Tuesday.
