BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police are looking for two people who burned a developmentally disabled man with heated metal wires.

Arlene Mercer says her 23-year-old son, Irving Darden, was burned on his hands and back Wednesday morning at the corner of Read Street and Stratford Avenue.

She says she believes the burning may have been part of some kind of ceremonial ritual.

Mercer says she’s absolutely horrified that somebody would burn a person with special needs.

She says her son was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital with second-degree burns on his hands and his back.

Police say the case is under investigation and they are asking anybody with information to call them.
