Bridgeport police search for robbery suspect

BRIDGEPORT - Police in Bridgeport say they are searching for a man who held up a Dunkin Donuts and convenience store yesterday. Dunkin Donuts owner Gayatri Mahesh says a man came into the store at around 8 p.m., asking for a single donut. As soon as the cashier opened the register, he reportedly tried to grab the cash. Mahesh says the cashier tried to stop the suspect, but he flashed a gun he had hidden under his shirt. Police say the same man attempted to rob the Cumberland Farms store on East Main Street, but failed and fled the store. The owner of a nearby Subway restaurant says the suspect tried to get into his store first, but moved a few doors down to the Dunkin Donuts.
