BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police set up a checkpoint Tuesday night near the scene of last week's hit-and-run accident which critically injured a child.

Police say Corey Gordon Jr. was struck by a vehicle last week on Capitol Avenue as his mother was getting her other child out of her car. The condition of Gordon Jr. has since been upgraded to serious by medical officials at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

Erika Parmlee, Corey’s mother, says there was no time to stop the driver.

Police continue to look for leads. As of now they do not have a make or model on the car that struck the 2-year-old.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Bridgeport police.
