BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport officials have agreed to pay $198,000 to a man who was stomped on by three city police officers following a 2011 chase in Beardsley Park.

Orlando Lopez-Soto, 28, sued the department after a witness caught the incident on camera.

Officials say the video shows Lopez-Soto fall to the ground after he is immobilized with a stun gun. Two officers are then seen kicking and stomping him before a third officer joins in. Police say Lopez-Soto was wanted for possession of a firearm and drugs.

Police say the three officers involved have been placed on administrative duty. No one at the Bridgeport Police Department wanted to speak on-camera, but officers say they believe the settlement was fair and that they want to move forward from this.

In a statement, the NAACP says it hopes the officers have learned from the settlement.
