BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport mother says the community is helping raise money for her daughter's funeral expenses, after the girl passed out at school this week and later died.

The mother of 10-year-old Dee Dee Rosa says she is heartbroken over the sudden death of her daughter. The child passed away at Yale-New Haven Hospital on Wednesday.

Dee Dee's mother says that her child, a fourth-grade student at Luis Munoz Marin School, complained to a teacher on Tuesday that she had a headache. She died at the hospital the next day due to complications from a brain aneurysm.

The children in the community have also been saddened by Dee Dee's death, with many in tears while attending Thursday's vigil.

Councilwoman Lydia Martinez is raising money for Dee Dee's funeral expenses. She visited the family along with the mayor and school superintendent.

Luz de Paz Funeral Home in Bridgeport is also accepting donations to cover the funeral costs.
