Bridgeport rejects proposal for medical marijuana dispensary Compassionate Care Clinic
BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport's Zoning Commission has rejected a proposal to open a medical marijuana dispensary on Main Street and the center's owners vow to continue fighting.
Ray Rizio, attorney for the Compassionate Care Clinic, says his clients cooperated with the city's request to obtain a special permit, though he claims all that's required is a certificate of zoning compliance for the property. Rizio says the special permit wasn't needed because the selling of pharmaceuticals is legal on the property, located on Main Street at the site of an old library.
Mayor Bill Finch agrees with the Zoning Commission and says they need to find a new location away from the city's commercial district.
