Bridgeport residents calling for speed bumps, stop lights

BRIDGEPORT - A high-speed chase in Bridgeport that ended with a crash earlier this week has prompted neighbors to take action to prevent similar incidents.

Some residents have started signing a petition calling on the city to install speed bumps and stop lights to slow down drivers.

The move comes in the wake of a car chase this past Thursday that sent a Jeep Liberty into a house at the base of a hill. The grandson of the house's owner, Dante Statum, is circulating the petition on behalf of the family and neighbors.

After they get enough signatures, the family says it plans to present the petition to city leaders.
