Bridgeport residents decry police behavior during chase

BRIDGEPORT - Witnesses to two police-involved crashes in Bridgeport Saturday are criticizing police for endangering residents.

The crashes happened within a few blocks of each other yesterday just after 5 p.m.

Witnesses say a police cruiser purposely rammed into a robbery suspect on a dirt bike during a chase. Just before that, two police cars involved in the chase crashed into each other.

Witnesses say there were children on the street at the time of both crashes and that the incidents drew crowds, who began to yell at police.

No one from the Bridgeport Police Department was available to comment.
