BRIDGEPORT - Officials in Bridgeport have rolled out a new recycling program that will make things easier for residents and may even reward them for recycling.

The new program will relieve residents of having to sort their recyclables. Instead, they will be able to throw all of their recyclables into a single bin.

The program will even keep track of what neighborhoods recycle the most and will reward them for doing so.

Mayor Bill Finch says that while the program cost $1.3 million to implement, the saving will be realized when they no longer have to burn as much trash, which costs the city nearly $70 a ton to do so.
