BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport's new chief of police was formally sworn into office tonight.

Joseph Gaudett, Jr. had served as acting chief of the department since the former chief, Bryan Norwood, left in 2008.

"My vision is that not only the chief, but also every officer in the Bridgeport Police Department, is engaged with the community in solving the kinds of issues that we have," Gaudett said.
