Bridgeport soup kitchen gives back on Thanksgiving

BRIDGEPORT - Those who spent their Thanksgiving at the Thomas Merton Soup Kitchen got a little more than just a warm meal this holiday.

Volunteers say this holiday isn't just about feeding the hungry with handouts, it's about feeding them mentally and spiritually as well.

Volunteers say they not only served up hot meals, but also offered prayer services and performed gospel music as their way of giving back to the nearly 50 people who attended the dinner.

Organizers at the Thomas Merton Center say they offer food to the homeless and those in need throughout the year, not just on Thanksgiving.
