BRIDGEPORT - Some 35 students gathered at the library of Longfellow Elementary School in Bridgeport Tuesday to watch President Barack Obama's education speech that had stirred a national controversy.

Obama encouraged children to take responsibility for their education, to set goals and not to define themselves by their failures.

At the conclusion of the 20-minute address, students at Longfellow E.S. had a chance to express their thoughts about the speech.

"It inspired kids to accomplish what they want in life and go to college," says student Rosa Ynfante.

Bridgeport School Superintendent Dr. John Ramos says allowing his students to watch the address was the right thing to do.
