BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport Superintendent of Schools Paul Vallas has been selected to run for lieutenant governor of Illinois.
Gov. Pat Quinn (D-IL) today selected Vallas as his running mate in next year's gubernatorial election.
Vallas is currently in a court battle to determine if he is eligible to serve as the superintendent in Bridgeport, and supporters were hopeful that the state Supreme Court would rule in his favor. Vallas' opponents say the city is ready for a new superintendent.
