Bridgeport woman accused of stabbing boyfriend

BRIDGEPORT - A Bridgeport woman is accused of stabbing her boyfriend with a butcher knife in a dispute over rent money.

The incident happened Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. at a Sheridan Street home.

Police say 43-year-old Sonja Whitaker was visited by her boyfriend so he could drop off baby supplies.

A fight then ensued, and police say Whitaker first attacked the man with a spoon before she grabbed a butcher knife and stabbed him in the hand.

Whitaker is being held on $25,000 bond. The boyfriend is recovering at Bridgeport Hospital.
