NORWALK - The NYPD has arrested a Bridgeport woman after a passenger in the car she was driving died in an accident earlier this week.

Police say 23-year-old Ayisha Dobson was drunk when she struck a metal divider on the Williamsburg Bridge in New York, killing one of the four people in her Nissan Altima. The victim has been identified as 21-year-old Janice Brown, of New Haven.

Authorities say the force of the impact threw Brown from the car, and that crews pronounced her dead at the scene. Dobson and the three women in the backseat escaped unhurt.

The Kings County District Attorney's Office says Dobson is being held behind bars until her next court appearance in June. Her charges include manslaughter, drunken driving and reckless driving.

Both Dobson and Brown were scheduled to graduate from St. John's University this weekend.
