STRATFORD - Police are investigating after someone broke into a Stratford home recently damaged by fire.

The home that Jerry Bower Jr. lived in with his wife and father on Soundview Avenue went up in flames last week.

Three of the family's cats and one dog died in the blaze.

Despite heavy damage to the front of the building, Bower says many items in the back were salvageable, but he was told to leave everything inside until the insurance company could get there.

Bower says electronics and his wife's jewelry worth about $15,000 were taken.
