STAMFORD - Stamford police say a nearby shop owner helped them catch a man who broke into a bagel shop last night.
Police say Robert Vining, 30, had been let go from Village Bagel on Hope Street last month.
They say a neighboring business owner spotted Vining breaking in through the front door at around 11:30 p.m.
Authorities say the business owner then followed Vining from the shop until an off-duty police officer listening on a radio met him and made the arrest.
Police say they're investigating an earlier break-in at the shop last week to see if Vining is also responsible for that.
