MILFORD - Some Milford business owners say a state construction project is taking too long and is affecting their bottom lines.

The shopping center along the Boston Post Road is made up of mom-and-pop shops, and they say they have lost business because of the construction

A Department of Transportation construction project to fix a bridge began in March 2014 and was initially slated to wrap up in April of this year.

Commissioner James Redeker says the agency's new plan is to finish in August.

"We're hoping we can now maintain the schedule," he says. "It's up to us to deliver this project on our new schedule and we plan to do that."

He said the DOT made custom signs to let people know the stores are still open.
