BX man in New Canaan court for alleged ATM skimming

DARIEN - A Bronx man was in court today on charges he placed a skimming device on an ATM in New Canaan.

Adrian Abagiu, 30, was caught on camera placing the device on an ATM at the Chase Bank Main Street over the weekend, according to authorities. Police say they waited for Abagiu to retrieve the device the following day and arrested him.

Investigators say bank security had spotted Abagiu acting suspiciously at the ATM about 10 days before he was arrested.

Abagiu is currently being held on bond. He faces attempted theft and attempted identity theft among other charges.
