HARTFORD - Former Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz says she is running for the Senate.

Bysiewicz announced today that she plans to run for the seat currently held by Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman.

Bysiewicz served as secretary of the state from 1999 until earlier this year.

She had attempted to run for state attorney general this past November but a state judge ruled she did not have the required legal experience.
