HARTFORD - Secretary of the State Susan Bysiewicz is dropping out of the race for attorney general after the state Supreme Court ruled she does not meet the qualifications for the job.
The court yesterday overturned a lower court ruling that said her time as secretary of the state should count toward the required 10 years of active legal service needed to be attorney general.
She issued a statement saying, "I am tremendously disappointed with the court's decision overturning Judge Sheldon's ruling and I strongly disagree with the decision ... however, I do respect the rule of law and will abide by it."
