HAMDEN - (AP) - Democratic candidate for Attorney General George Jepsen says despite his admiration for incumbent Richard Blumenthal, he will not be a carbon copy.

Jepsen and his Republican opponent, Martha Dean, went head-to-head in their second debate Monday, clashing over the differences between the Democratic politicians, the role of the attorney general's office and other issues. The event took place at the Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden.

Jepsen defended Blumenthal's work as attorney general and said he would do more to confront environmental issues and cases of financial and mortgage fraud.

Dean said Blumenthal's practices have hurt the state, saying she would drop many of the office's pending lawsuits while strictly upholding the Constitution.

Blumenthal is running for the U.S. Senate.
