NORWALK - There are certain things that should never be done when being attacked by a dog, according to a local canine behavior specialist.

Aggression specialist Chris Onthank with Dog Gone Smart in Norwalk says that running from the animal makes that person look like prey.

Onthank says he doesn’t know why a pit bull attacked its Wilton owner on Monday, but says jumping on top of her car might have helped.

He says that someone being attacked should never yell or turn their back on an attacking dog, but remain confident in the face of danger.

Onthank also adds that what happened on Monday can’t be blamed on pit bulls in general. He says that any dog can be aggressive.

He also says that at the first sign of aggression, dog owners should seek help and training.
