A car crashed into a utility pole in Bridgeport knocking out power to the area. It happened at the corner of Merritt and Madison avenues

BRIDGEPORT - A car crashed into a utility pole in Bridgeport knocking out power to the area.

It happened at the corner of Merritt and Madison avenues just before 1 a.m.

Police say the car drove through a snow bank, then hit and split the pole.

Officials say the driver was taken to the hospital and that speed was a factor in the crash.
