BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport police say a man is recovering in the hospital after a student driver drove over his leg with a tractor-trailer.

The 53-year-old driver was in training Tuesday at the New England Tractor Trailer Training School.

Police say he was trying to back up his rig when he heard a man screaming.

They say he jumped out and found Carlos Orta, 29, on the ground with his leg pinned beneath one of the truck's wheels.

Police say a supervisor at the school rushed over and moved the rig off of his leg.

They say no charges have been filed.
