STRATFORD - A Stratford woman is under arrest after police say she falsely reported that her dog was stolen.

Carolyn Novotny, 65, told police her yellow lab Bella was stolen last month from the Home Depot parking lot in Derby.

Police say she really gave the dog away and lied because she did not want her husband to know.

She is due in court next month.
