FAIRFIELD - A cat is safe after firefighters rescued it from an underground pipe in Fairfield yesterday.

They say a landscaper called after he heard a cat making noise on Mill Plain Road.

Firefighters left out food and the cat eventually made its way out.

They say firefighters watched him overnight to make sure it's OK.
