NORWALK - The Stamford woman who was disfigured in a chimpanzee attack in 2009 has appealed the court decision that denied her permission to sue the state for $150 million.

Charla Nash was left blind and permanently disfigured after she was attacked by her friend's pet chimpanzee back in 2009.

Last month, the state claims commissioner dismissed her lawsuit, saying that state law allowed chimps to be kept as pets at the time of the incident.

However, Nash's attorney argues the state knew the animal was dangerous, but refused to take action.

Nash settled a $4 million lawsuit with her friend's estate last year.
