BRIDGEPORT - A woman is behind bars following a hit-and-run accident Sunday night in Bridgeport.

Police say 21-year-old Charlene Lignor, of Ansonia, crashed into a 5-year-old boy in front of 548 Ogden St. She has been charged with evading responsibility, operating under suspension, failing to carry registration/insurance and interfering with police.

She left her vehicle following the crash and was found hiding in a backyard on James Street. A witness to the crash chased her down in his car and on foot.

Family members say the victim's name is Jeremiah. He has left the hospital and did not suffer any broken bones. The boy was able to return to school Tuesday.
