GREENWICH - The state's chief medical examiner has announced the death of a woman hit by a train in Greenwich last week has been ruled a suicide.

MTA officials say Tamar Louis was sitting on the platform with her legs dangling over the edge at the Cos Cob Station Friday morning.

They say the engineer of an approaching train saw the woman and blasted his horn.

They say it appeared the horn startled Louis who fell onto the tracks and was instantly killed by the train.

Authorities initially believed Louis had dropped her purse onto the tracks and jumped down to get it.

The family's attorney says they find the report of their daughter's suicide hard to believe.

Friends of Louis say they don't recall her showing any signs of trouble.

The funeral will be held this Saturday in White Plains.
