STAMFORD - A Stamford middle school student enlisted the help of the public Friday evening to retrieve signs she made to advertise her summer fundraiser to help children battling cancer.

Grace Targonski, 12, hosted 13 lemonade stands this summer to raise money for pediatric cancer research. She awoke Thursday morning to find that the signs she posted at a busy intersection across the street from her home were stolen.

Targonski says the signs garnered much attention from the community. She claims that even her town's mayor stopped at the stand for lemonade after seeing her signs on the road.

Targonski and her family are upset over the missing signs and wonder why anyone would take them.

Targonski plans to create more signs for the cause. Her family says they will remove the new signs at the end of each lemonade stand.
