STRATFORD - Actor Christopher Walken returned today to the American Shakespeare Theater in Stratford, where he played Hamlet as a young performer.

Walken tells News 12 Connecticut that he acted in three plays at the theater over the course of his young career.

News 12 was told that the famous actor returned to lend support to the re-emergence of the theater, which has fallen into disrepair.

Councilman John Dempsey says that once the theater is renovated, he hopes it will lead to a stronger economy for the Stratford community.
