NORWALK - The city of Norwalk took steps today toward preparing the city's emergency teams for this year's hurricane season.
Throughout the past year, the city has received several resources that will help when emergency crews respond to a hurricane and other disasters, including drones with cameras.
Thanks to federal grants, the city has also purchased two new message signs to inform people about closures or where they can find help, as well as new light towers and an inflatable light tower.
The emergency management team met today to talk about changes that will be made to its response plan.
Norwalk Fire Chief Denis McCarthy says that they are constantly updating and adjusting the response plan, as well as building on the experiences of each disaster.
The city of Norwalk holds a meeting with nearly 50 members of the emergency management team every year to make sure that everyone is ready for the season ahead.
