HARTFORD - Connecticut Light & Power is telling customers to be prepared to lose power for up to a week and maybe even longer because of Hurricane Irene.

CL&P and United Illuminating both say they are preparing to deal with whatever problems Hurricane Irene brings.

The state Department of Transportation also says it's concerned about downed trees blocking roads and knocking out power, so there will be 13 special tree crews ready to clear streets.
