BRIDGEPORT - Bridgeport spent Friday cleaning out from the snow.

The city got several inches of snow overnight. Residents had been encouraged to keep their cars out of the way of plows so all of the streets could get treated and the snow could be cleared.

Mayor Bill Finch declared a citywide effort to keep about 35 specially designated streets accessible to the plows. Emergency parking areas were made available to residents that could only park on the street.

City officials say the snow emergency remains in effect and residents should continue to park only on the designated sides of the streets.

Temperatures are expected to continue to drop Friday evening and residents are encouraged to take caution while driving as ice may form in some areas.
