Conn. Senate passes Election Day registration

NORWALK - A new bill that will allow Connecticut residents to register to vote and cast ballots on Election Day has been passed.

Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said the approval of the bill yesterday was "a great day in Connecticut."

"Despite the pervasive climate across the U.S. to restrict voting rights, Connecticut has moved in the opposite direction - one that ensures the integrity of our electoral process is fair, accessible elections," Malloy said.

The bill also creates an online voter registration system for eligible Connecticut voters for general elections.
