GREENWICH - A public hearing was held today on a proposal by some Greenwich businesses to have trees cut down along Sound Beach Avenue.

The businesses say the eight English oak trees are blocking signs and therefore hurting business sales.

The business owners want the English oaks removed and replaced with some other kind of tree.

Conservation groups say cutting down healthy and mature trees isn't a good idea and that a pruning plan would better solve the issue.

The tree warden has three days to make a decision.
