The school on Birdseye Street will honor Victoria Soto who was a teacher killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.

STRATFORD - Construction of a new school in Stratford is moving forward.

The school on Birdseye Street will honor Victoria Soto who was a teacher killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings.

Her family and friends celebrated yesterday when a large steel structure was put into place.

Soto's sister Jillian says the school will help keep her sister's memory alive.

Officials say the school will open its doors in September of next year.
