Construction begins along Route 1 in Greenwich

GREENWICH - Residents can expect slower traffic on Route 1 in Greenwich as the Department of Transportation conducts a milling and paving project to resurface some of the damaged roadway.

Officials say despite the inconvenience now, drivers can expect a significant improvement when the construction work is over.

In the meantime, the town is urging drivers to exercise caution and to travel slowly, especially when traveling over the bumpy roadway, to avoid damage to tires and rims.

Construction will be done mostly at night so workers don't interrupt the morning commute and as long as weather permits, officials say the work should be finished by Oct. 6.
