BRIDGEPORT - Prep work began in Bridgeport this morning on a memorial playground for one of the victims of the Newtown school shooting.

Students from the University of Bridgeport are teaming up with Bridgeport firefighters to build the playground at Seaside Park. The playground is being built in memory of 7-year-old Josephine Gay.

It is part of the Sandy Ground Project. The organization's goal is to build a playground in 26 communities affected by Hurricane Sandy and to dedicate each playground to a victim of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The community is invited to help construct the playground tomorrow.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Wednesday, which organizers say would have been Josephine's eighth birthday.
