Cooling centers open across CT

Stamford and Bridgeport officials have opened several cooling centers this week to help residents beat the heat.

All centers will be open until Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

STAMFORD - Stamford and Bridgeport officials have opened several cooling centers this week to help residents beat the heat.

In Stamford, people can cool off at the Stamford Government Center on Washington Boulevard, the Stamford Fire Department Headquarters on Main Street and the Long Ridge Fire Company on Old Long Ridge Road.

In Bridgeport, cooling stations will be set up at the East Side Senior Center, the Greater Bridgeport Transit Station and the Bridgeport Public Library.

All centers will be open until Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Stamford Government Center, 888 Washington Blvd, Stamford, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Stamford Fire Department Headquarters, 629 Main St., 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Long Ridge Fire Company 366 Old Long Ridge Road 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Bridgeport Cooling Stations

A cooling station will open at the Greater Bridgeport Transit station at 710 Water Street from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for kids and families. 
 
Bridgeport Public Library main branch located at 925 Broad Street will also be open as a cooling station from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday and Thursday.

The Black Rock Branch, 2705 Fairfield Ave., Newfield Branch, 1230 Stratford Ave., North Branch, 3455 Madison Ave., and 
Old Mill Green Branch, 1677-81 East Main St. also will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. 
 
The East Side Senior Center, 1057 East Main St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The Eisenhower Senior Center, 307 Golden Hill St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The North End/Bethany Senior Center, 20 Thorme St., will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The Black Rock Senior Center, 2676 Fairfield Ave., will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
