STAMFORD - Police say alcohol played a role in an early morning crash that claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman in Stamford Thursday.
Police say 41-year-old Giovanni Cucullo was driving with passenger Maryann Loprete when his car jumped a guardrail, propelling it off the ground and into a tree. The crash happened at the corner of High Ridge and Cedar Wood roads.
Loprete was not wearing a seatbelt, according to authorities.
Cucullo suffered non-life threatening injuries.
