WESTPORT - Police in Westport are investigating three bank robberies that have taken place in the last eight days.

The most recent robbery happened on Saturday, when police say a man demanded money and walked away with $4,000 at a TD Bank.

Police say that one day earlier a man handed a teller a note demanding money, but left after growing impatient.

Police have not yet determined if the cases are related, and say that the trend could be a result of the economy.

"The investigation is continuing right now, so we're really not sure," Westport Police Sgt. Arthur Belile says. "We're treating it as two different scenarios that perhaps it could be the same person or maybe two different suspects, but at this time we're investigating both possibilities."
