FAIRFIELD - Public works crews throughout the city pulled leaves and branches out of drains in preparation of heavy rain and gusty winds.

The Fairfield and Weston school districts both released students early from school Thursday because of the approaching storm. Some parents said they were surprised by the decision, while others said they would rather be safe than sorry.

News 12 Connecticut tried to reach the school district for comment, but the calls were not returned.
