FAIRFIELD - Local municipalities are gearing up to deal with the latest blast of wintry weather.

Public works departments say they are getting plows, trucks and salt prepped, but are using a wait-and-see approach for this storm. Earlier in the week, the storm was forecast to bring more snow, but the latest models show the storm will hit further south and bring just a coating to 3 inches to southwestern Connecticut.

Still, Bridgeport has declared a snow emergency, requiring residents to park their cars along even-numbered sides of streets so plows can get through.

The downgraded storm could still make roads slick for the Monday commute, so drivers are urged to use caution.
