STAMFORD - Several agencies, including the state police and the Coast Guard, spent most of the day trying to remove a crane that collapsed onto a private boat Wednesday morning at Stamford Harbor Marina.
News 12 Connecticut was told that the crane was pulling up pilings when a weight was shifted. The shift caused the crane to topple and fall onto the private boat.
Police say no one was on the boat at the time of the accident.
A spokesman for Avalon Property Management, which owns the marina, says the pilings being removed had been damaged during Sandy.
Police say the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is working to determine fault in the collapse.
