STRATFORD - Labor Day weekend is usually a time for barbecues and beach parties, but this year, many people in southwestern Connecticut are busy cleaning up after the storm.

In the Lordship section of Stratford, the extent of property damage varies. While Irene merely left debris scattered around some homes, other homes were completely swept away.

The house that once stood on stilts in the neighborhood had to be removed after it toppled over. Neighbors say the owners of the home were fortunate enough to have evacuated long before the storm.
